Whose novel is Treasure Island?

Stevenson began Treasure Island in 1881 after drawing an imaginary island map to entertain his stepson, Lloyd Osbourne. The story first appeared as a serial in the children's magazine Young Folks in 1881–82 and was published as a book in 1883. It follows young Jim Hawkins on a voyage to find buried treasure and his dealings with the charming but treacherous one-legged pirate Long John Silver. The novel shaped the popular image of pirates, with treasure maps marked with an X, parrots on shoulders and sea shanties. Stevenson also wrote Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Kidnapped.
