Whose novel is The Three Musketeers?

Alexandre Dumas wrote The Three Musketeers with his collaborator Auguste Maquet, and it appeared in instalments in a Paris newspaper in 1844. Set in the 1620s, it follows the young Gascon d'Artagnan, who travels to Paris and befriends the musketeers Athos, Porthos and Aramis. Together they battle the schemes of Cardinal Richelieu and the spy Milady de Winter. D'Artagnan was loosely based on a real 17th-century musketeer officer, Charles de Batz de Castelmore. The friends' motto, 'All for one, one for all', has become one of the most famous phrases in literature.
