Whose company was McDonald’s?

Richard and Maurice “Mac” McDonald opened a barbecue drive-in in San Bernardino, California, in 1940. In 1948 they streamlined it into a fast, low-cost hamburger stand using their “Speedee Service System”, an assembly-line style kitchen. Milkshake-machine salesman Ray Kroc visited in 1954, was impressed and became their franchising agent, opening his first franchise in Des Plaines, Illinois, in 1955. In 1961 Kroc bought the brothers out for 2.7 million dollars. McDonald’s now has more than 40,000 restaurants in over 100 countries.
