Whose company created LEGO?

Christiansen began by making wooden toys, and in 1934 he named his company LEGO, from the Danish words leg godt, meaning play well. The company started producing plastic bricks in 1949. His son Godtfred Kirk Christiansen developed the idea of a full system of play, and the modern brick with studs on top and tubes underneath was patented on 28 January 1958. That clever design lets bricks made decades apart still fit together perfectly. Today LEGO is one of the world’s largest toy companies and is still controlled by the Kirk Kristiansen family.
