Whose company is Microsoft?

Gates and Allen met at Lakeside School in Seattle and started Microsoft after seeing the Altair 8800 computer on the cover of Popular Electronics. Their first product was a version of the BASIC programming language for the Altair. The big breakthrough came in 1980 when IBM chose Microsoft to supply the operating system for its first PC, which became MS-DOS. Windows launched in 1985, and Microsoft Office followed, making the company dominant in personal computing. The company moved to the Seattle area in 1979, and today it is one of the most valuable companies in the world, with a market value that passed 4 trillion dollars in 2025.
