When was Coca-Cola invented?

Pemberton created the syrup as a patent medicine, mixing it with carbonated water at Jacobs’ Pharmacy in Atlanta. His bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, suggested the name after two ingredients, coca leaves and kola nuts, and wrote it in the flowing script still used in the logo. Sales in the first year averaged only about nine drinks a day. Businessman Asa Candler bought control of the company and built it into a national brand with aggressive advertising. The contour bottle was designed in 1915 so it could be recognised even in the dark, and today the company says its drinks are served about 2.2 billion times a day.
