Whose company is Nike?

Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman each put in 500 dollars in 1964 to launch Blue Ribbon Sports, which began by importing Onitsuka Tiger running shoes from Japan and selling them from the boot of Knight’s car. Bowerman constantly experimented with shoe designs, famously pouring rubber into his wife’s waffle iron to create a lighter, grippier sole. The company introduced its own Nike brand in 1971, named after the Greek goddess of victory. That year, graphic design student Carolyn Davidson created the Swoosh logo for just 35 dollars. Nike is now the world’s largest sportswear company, with annual revenue of roughly 50 billion dollars.
