Whose song is Imagine?

Imagine was released by John Lennon in 1971 as the title track of his second solo album after the Beatles split. The song asks listeners to imagine a world without countries, possessions or religious divisions, living in peace. Lennon later said the lyrics were strongly inspired by poems in Yoko Ono’s book Grapefruit, and in 2017 the National Music Publishers’ Association announced that Ono would be credited as a co-writer. The song was recorded at the couple’s home studio at Tittenhurst Park in England, with Lennon playing a white piano. It has become an anthem for peace and is often performed at major events, including Olympic ceremonies.
