Where is the Eiffel Tower?

The Eiffel Tower is in Paris’s 7th arrondissement, at the north-west end of the Champ de Mars park, looking across the Seine towards the Trocadéro. It was built by Gustave Eiffel’s company as the entrance arch for the 1889 World’s Fair and was meant to stand for only 20 years. It survived partly because it proved useful as a radio transmission tower. Today it is about 330 metres tall including its antennas and is made of around 18,000 iron parts held together by some 2.5 million rivets. It draws roughly six to seven million visitors a year, making it one of the most visited paid monuments in the world.
