Whose novel is To Kill a Mockingbird?

To Kill a Mockingbird was written by the American author Harper Lee and published in 1960. Narrated by a young girl called Scout Finch, it follows her father, the lawyer Atticus Finch, as he defends a Black man falsely accused of a crime in a small Alabama town during the 1930s. The novel explores racial injustice, prejudice and moral courage through a child’s eyes. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1961 and has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. For decades it was Lee’s only published novel, until Go Set a Watchman, an earlier draft featuring the same characters, was published in 2015.
