Whose novel is The Great Gatsby?

The Great Gatsby was written by the American author F. Scott Fitzgerald and published in April 1925. Narrated by Nick Carraway, it tells the story of the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his longing for Daisy Buchanan, set among lavish parties on Long Island during the Jazz Age. Fitzgerald himself coined the term Jazz Age, and the novel explores the dark side of the American Dream. It sold disappointingly during his lifetime, and Fitzgerald died in 1940 believing himself a failure. After the Second World War, when copies were given to American soldiers, it grew into one of the most widely read novels in the United States.
