Whose novel created Dracula?

Stoker worked for many years as the business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London, and wrote his novels in his spare time. He spent about seven years researching Dracula, which is told through letters, diaries and newspaper cuttings. He took the name from Vlad III, a 15th-century prince of Wallachia known as Vlad the Impaler, although Stoker never visited Transylvania. A holiday in the English seaside town of Whitby in 1890 inspired key scenes. The 1922 German film Nosferatu was an unauthorised adaptation, and Stoker’s widow won a court case ordering its copies to be destroyed.
