Whose book is Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland?

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was written by Lewis Carroll, the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a mathematics lecturer at Christ Church, Oxford. The story began on 4 July 1862, when Dodgson made it up to entertain three young sisters, including ten-year-old Alice Liddell, during a boat trip on the River Thames. Alice asked him to write it down, and he gave her a handwritten version called Alice’s Adventures Under Ground. The expanded book, illustrated by John Tenniel, was published in 1865. A sequel, Through the Looking-Glass, followed in 1871.
