Where is the deepest part of the Atlantic Ocean?

The Puerto Rico Trench lies at the boundary between the Caribbean and North American tectonic plates, just north of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Its deepest spot, the Milwaukee Deep, plunges to roughly 8,376 metres below the surface, the lowest point in the entire Atlantic Ocean. This is far shallower than the Pacific Marianas Trench but still deep enough to swallow most mountains. The trench is a zone of intense geological activity and can generate powerful earthquakes and tsunamis. Scientists study it to understand plate tectonics and deep-sea life.
