Where is Mount Kilimanjaro?

Kilimanjaro rises in northern Tanzania and is the tallest mountain in Africa, with its highest point, Uhuru Peak, reaching about 5,895 metres above sea level. It is also the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, meaning it is not part of a mountain range but rises alone from the surrounding plains. The mountain is actually a dormant volcano with three volcanic cones. Despite sitting near the equator, its summit has long been capped with ice and glaciers, though these have been shrinking. Thousands of trekkers attempt to reach its summit each year.
