Which bird is the largest?

The ostrich, native to Africa, is the largest living bird by both height and weight, reaching up to 2.8 meters tall and 155 kilograms. Far too heavy to fly, it is instead built to run, sprinting at up to 70 kilometers per hour — the fastest of any bird on land — using its powerful two-toed legs, which can also deliver a dangerous kick. Ostriches lay the largest eggs of any living bird, each weighing about 1.4 kilograms. The largest bird by wingspan, by contrast, is the wandering albatross, whose wings can stretch beyond 3.5 meters.
