Which bird has the largest wingspan?

The wandering albatross, a seabird of the southern oceans, has the greatest wingspan of any living bird, with the largest individuals stretching up to around 3.5 metres. These long, narrow wings are perfectly suited to gliding for hours over the open sea with barely a wingbeat, riding ocean winds to travel vast distances. An albatross can circle the globe in search of food and may cover thousands of kilometres on a single foraging trip. They come to land only to breed, often on remote islands. The extinct Argentavis, a giant prehistoric bird, is thought to have had an even larger wingspan.
