Where is the most remote island in the world?

Bouvet Island, an uninhabited Norwegian territory in the South Atlantic Ocean, is generally considered the most remote island on Earth: the nearest land is the uninhabited coast of Antarctica about 1,700 kilometres away, and the nearest inhabited land is over 2,200 kilometres distant. About 93 percent of the island is covered by a glacier, making landing extremely difficult. Among inhabited islands, Tristan da Cunha in the South Atlantic is the most remote, lying about 2,400 kilometres from South Africa with a population of around 250 people who can only be reached by a multi-day boat journey.
