Where is Lake Hillier, the pink lake?

Lake Hillier is a salt lake about 600 metres long, separated from the Southern Ocean by a narrow strip of sand dunes and forest. Its bright bubblegum-pink colour comes from salt-loving microorganisms, especially the alga Dunaliella salina and pink halophilic bacteria, which produce red-orange pigments. Unlike some pink lakes that change colour with the seasons, Lake Hillier stays pink all year, and the colour even remains when the water is placed in a bottle. The island is uninhabited and the lake is best seen from scenic flights. The English navigator Matthew Flinders recorded the lake in 1802 during his voyage around Australia.
