Walt Disney opened Disneyland in Anaheim, south of Los Angeles, on 17 July 1955, after building it in about one year. It was the only park Walt personally saw completed. Walt Disney World in Florida followed in 1971 and is now the largest resort, with four theme parks. Disney parks also operate in Tokyo, which opened in 1983, Paris in 1992, Hong Kong in 2005 and Shanghai in 2016. Magic Kingdom in Florida is the most visited theme park on Earth, with around 17 million guests a year.
