Which airport is the busiest in the world?

Atlanta has been the busiest passenger airport in the world almost every year since 1998, with the exception of 2020, when the pandemic briefly put Guangzhou on top. It handled about 108 million passengers in 2024. Its location within a two-hour flight of around 80 percent of the US population and its role as the main hub for Delta Air Lines keep it busy. For international passengers alone, Dubai International is the busiest in the world, handling about 92 million international travellers in 2024. Dallas Fort Worth, Tokyo Haneda and London Heathrow also rank near the top.
