Where do kangaroos live?

Kangaroos inhabit almost every habitat in Australia, from grasslands and open woodlands to deserts. The four large species are the red, eastern grey, western grey and antilopine kangaroos. The red kangaroo, found in the dry interior, is the largest living marsupial, with males standing up to around 1.8 metres tall. Australia's kangaroo population is estimated to number in the tens of millions, more than the country's human population. Tree-kangaroos, which climb and live in trees, are found in the rainforests of Papua New Guinea, the Indonesian province of Papua and far north Queensland.
