Where are the Chocolate Hills?

The Chocolate Hills are spread over about 50 square kilometres in the Carmen, Batuan and Sagbayan area of Bohol. Official counts give at least 1,260 hills, and some surveys record more than 1,700. Most are 30 to 50 metres tall and made of marine limestone that has been shaped by rain, rivers and erosion over a very long time. They are covered in grass that turns chocolate brown in the dry season, which gives them their name. The Philippines declared them a National Geological Monument in 1988.
