Whose painting is The Scream?

Munch made several versions of The Scream, including two paintings, two pastels and a lithograph printed in 1895. He described the inspiration as a walk at sunset near Oslo, then called Kristiania, when he sensed “an infinite scream passing through nature”. The swirling orange sky and the agonised figure have made it a symbol of modern anxiety. In 2012 a pastel version sold at auction for about 120 million dollars, then a record. Two versions were stolen from Oslo museums, in 1994 and 2004, and both were later recovered.
