Whose novel is Animal Farm?

Animal Farm was first published in Britain on 17 August 1945 by Secker & Warburg. It tells the story of farm animals who overthrow their human farmer, only to see the pigs become as oppressive as the humans they replaced. Orwell wrote it as an allegory of the Russian Revolution and the rise of Joseph Stalin. Several publishers turned it down during the Second World War because Britain was then allied with the Soviet Union. The book's famous line 'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others' has become a well-known description of hypocrisy in power.
