Whose Machine First Produced Artificial Lightning?

Nikola Tesla, the Serbian-American inventor, created some of the most spectacular demonstrations of artificial lightning using his Tesla coil (patented 1891) and his Colorado Springs laboratory (1899), where he generated discharges of up to 30 metres in length. Tesla's work on alternating current (AC), wireless power transmission, and high-frequency electricity was visionary. His Wardenclyffe Tower project on Long Island (1901–1905) aimed to transmit electricity wirelessly but was never completed. Tesla's AC system ultimately won the "War of Currents" against Edison's DC system.
