Henry Ford launched the Model T on 1 October 1908. On 1 December 1913 his Highland Park factory in Michigan introduced a moving assembly line, cutting the time to build a car chassis from about 12 hours to roughly 90 minutes. As production soared, the price fell from 850 dollars at launch to about 260 dollars by the mid-1920s. In 1914 Ford doubled wages to 5 dollars a day, helping his workers afford the cars they built. By the time production ended in May 1927, more than 15 million Model Ts had been made.
