Which is the largest snake?

The green anaconda of South America is the heaviest snake, with large females weighing around 100 kilograms and measuring more than 5 metres long. The reticulated python of Southeast Asia is the longest, with reliably measured wild snakes approaching 7 metres. Anacondas spend much of their lives in swamps and rivers, where the water supports their bulk and helps them ambush prey such as capybaras and caimans. In 2024 scientists announced that the green anaconda is actually two species, naming the northern one Eunectes akayima. Around 60 million years ago, the extinct Titanoboa of Colombia grew to an estimated 13 metres.
