Where is the largest river delta?

The Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta, sometimes called the Bengal Delta, is the largest river delta in the world. It forms where the Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers, joined by the Meghna, discharge into the Bay of Bengal, spreading across more than 100,000 square kilometres of Bangladesh and eastern India. A delta forms when a river slows as it meets the sea and drops the sediment it carries, building up fertile land in a fan or triangular shape. This delta soil is extremely fertile, supporting intensive agriculture and one of the most densely populated regions on Earth, with well over 100 million people living there. It also contains the vast Sundarbans mangrove forest. However, the low-lying delta is highly vulnerable to flooding, cyclones, and rising sea levels.
