Where is the largest cave chamber in the world?

The Sarawak Chamber, deep inside Gunung Mulu National Park in the Malaysian state of Sarawak on Borneo, is widely recognised as the largest known cave chamber in the world by area. It measures roughly 700 metres long, up to 400 metres wide, and at least 70 metres high, an enormous underground void discovered by British cavers in 1981. It is often said to be large enough to hold dozens of aircraft. Its immense size comes from water slowly dissolving limestone over vast stretches of time. Another giant, the Miao Room in China Gebihe cave system, rivals it in volume. Exploring and mapping such chambers is challenging because their scale can exceed the reach of caving lamps, leaving explorers unable to see the far walls or ceiling.
