Where is the deepest lake?

Lake Baikal, located in southern Siberia, Russia, is the world's deepest lake at 1,642 meters (5,387 feet) — deep enough to stack four Empire State Buildings. It is also the world's oldest lake at 25–30 million years and the largest freshwater lake by volume, containing approximately 23,615 cubic kilometers of water — about 20% of the world's unfrozen surface fresh water, more than all five North American Great Lakes combined. Baikal is home to approximately 3,600 plant and animal species, about 80% of which are found nowhere else (endemic), including the Baikal seal (nerpa) — the world's only exclusively freshwater seal. The lake is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is sometimes called the "Galápagos of Russia."
