The cliffs are made of layers of shale and sandstone laid down more than 300 million years ago. They are home to large colonies of seabirds, including Atlantic puffins in spring and summer. They are among Ireland’s most visited natural attractions and have appeared in films such as The Princess Bride and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
