When will Halley's Comet return?

Halley's Comet is the only well-known short-period comet regularly visible to the naked eye from Earth and potentially seen twice in a human lifetime. English astronomer Edmond Halley realised that comets seen in 1531, 1607 and 1682 were the same object and predicted its return in 1758. He died before it reappeared on schedule, and the comet was named in his honour. Records of its appearances go back to at least 240 BC in Chinese chronicles, and it appears in the Bayeux Tapestry depicting the Norman conquest of 1066. Its next perihelion is predicted for 28 July 2061.
