When was the Hoover Dam completed?

Construction of the Hoover Dam began in 1931 during the Great Depression, employing thousands of workers in the harsh desert heat of Black Canyon. President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the dam on 30 September 1935, and the structure was officially handed over and completed in 1936. At 221 metres tall, it was the tallest dam in the world when finished. Its construction used about 3.25 million cubic metres of concrete, enough to pave a two-lane road from San Francisco to New York. The dam created Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States by capacity when full.
