When was the Great Pyramid built?

The Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed around 2560 BCE during Egypt’s Fourth Dynasty as a tomb for the pharaoh Khufu (Cheops). Originally standing about 146.6 meters tall, it held the record as the tallest structure made by humans for almost 3,800 years, until surpassed by medieval cathedrals. It was built from an estimated 2.3 million stone blocks weighing on average 2.5 tonnes each, and it is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still largely intact. Exactly how the Egyptians moved and placed the blocks with such precision remains a subject of research and admiration.
