When was the first black hole image published?

The Event Horizon Telescope collaboration published the first image of a black hole on 10 April 2019. The image showed the supermassive black hole in the galaxy M87, located about 55 million light-years away. It was produced using a network of radio telescopes across the globe working together as one Earth-sized observatory. The result was a major scientific achievement and confirmed a prediction of Einstein’s general relativity.
