When was the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima?

At 8:15 am on 6 August 1945, the B-29 bomber Enola Gay released Little Boy, a uranium bomb with an explosive force of about 15 kilotons of TNT, over Hiroshima. It detonated around 600 metres above the city and killed an estimated 70,000 to 80,000 people instantly. Three days later, on 9 August, the plutonium bomb Fat Man was dropped on Nagasaki. By the end of 1945 the two bombings had killed an estimated 110,000 to 210,000 people, including many from burns and radiation sickness. Japan announced its surrender on 15 August 1945, and the formal signing on 2 September ended World War II.
