When was Pearl Harbor attacked?

At 7:48 am local time on 7 December 1941, the first of two waves of Japanese aircraft struck the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor on the island of Oahu. More than 350 planes launched from six aircraft carriers took part in the surprise attack. All eight US battleships present were damaged, and four were sunk, including the USS Arizona, where 1,177 crew members died. In total 2,403 Americans were killed. The next day President Franklin D. Roosevelt called it a date which will live in infamy, and the United States declared war on Japan, formally entering World War II.
