How many Earths could fit inside the Sun?

The Sun’s diameter is about 1.39 million kilometres, roughly 109 times that of Earth. Because volume grows with the cube of the width, 109 multiplied by itself three times gives about 1.3 million. If you packed solid Earth-sized balls inside, gaps between them would mean fewer fitted, closer to a million. The Sun also contains about 99.8 percent of all the mass in the solar system and is around 333,000 times more massive than Earth. Even so, it is only an average-sized star, and red supergiants such as Betelgeuse are hundreds of times wider.
