Which shark is the most dangerous to humans?

According to the International Shark Attack File, the great white shark is responsible for the largest number of recorded unprovoked bites on humans, with several hundred incidents documented since records began. Tiger sharks and bull sharks are the next most frequently involved species. Bull sharks are considered especially risky because they tolerate fresh water and often swim in shallow coastal areas and rivers where people bathe. Even so, shark bites are rare: worldwide there are typically around 60 to 80 confirmed unprovoked bites a year, and fewer than ten are usually fatal. Many bites are thought to be cases of mistaken identity or curiosity rather than hunting.
