Which lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in Africa?

Lake Victoria is Africa’s largest natural freshwater lake by surface area, covering about 68,800 square kilometres. It is shared by Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya and is a vital source of water, food, and transport. The lake is the main reservoir of the White Nile system, though its own drainage basin is distinct. Fishing, especially for Nile perch and tilapia, has a major economic role, though the lake faces environmental pressures. Lake Victoria remains one of the most important freshwater bodies in the world.
