Salvator Mundi, meaning 'Saviour of the World', shows Christ holding a crystal orb and raising his hand in blessing. It sold at Christie's in New York on 15 November 2017 for $450.3 million including fees. In 1958 the heavily overpainted work had sold for just £45, when it was not believed to be by Leonardo. Some experts still question how much of the painting Leonardo himself completed. The buyer was reported to be linked to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the painting has not been publicly displayed since the sale.
