Which is the most common password?

Security firms such as NordPass analyse millions of passwords exposed in data breaches each year, and 123456 almost always lands at the top. Other favourites include 123456789, 12345678, password, qwerty and 111111. These passwords can be cracked instantly by automated tools that try common choices first. Experts recommend long passphrases of at least 12 to 16 characters, a different password for every site and a password manager to keep track of them. Turning on two-factor authentication or switching to passkeys adds strong protection even if a password leaks.
