Which is the brightest planet in the sky?

Venus outshines every other planet and star, reaching a magnitude of about −4.6 at its brightest. Its dense clouds of sulfuric acid reflect around three-quarters of the sunlight that hits them, and it passes closer to Earth than any other planet. Because its orbit lies inside ours, Venus never strays far from the Sun in the sky, so it appears either shortly after sunset or before dawn. This is why ancient cultures called it the Evening Star and the Morning Star, sometimes thinking they were two different objects. When conditions are right, sharp-eyed observers can even spot Venus in daylight.
