Where was Game of Thrones filmed?

HBO’s Game of Thrones, which ran for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019, used studios in Belfast and many locations across Northern Ireland, including the Dark Hedges, which became the Kingsroad. The walled city of Dubrovnik in Croatia played King’s Landing from season two onwards, after Malta was used in the first season. Iceland’s glaciers and lava fields provided the lands beyond the Wall. In Spain, the Royal Alcázar of Seville became the Water Gardens of Dorne, and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe in the Basque Country was used for Dragonstone. Morocco’s Ait Benhaddou and Essaouira stood in for cities in Essos.
