SpaceSpacecraft

Quick Answer

Voyager 1 is in interstellar space, beyond the heliopause, traveling away from the Sun. It was the first human-made object to enter that region.

The Full Story

Voyager 1 is now far beyond the heliosphere, in interstellar space, after crossing the heliopause in 2012. It is traveling outward from the Sun at a distance of more than 150 astronomical units and continues to send back data. Launched in 1977, it made flybys of Jupiter and Saturn before heading out of the Solar System. Its location makes it the most distant human-made spacecraft from Earth.
