The Naica Mine is located in northern Mexico, in the state of Chihuahua. One of its most famous chambers, the Cave of the Crystals, contained enormous selenite gypsum crystals, some over 10 meters long. The crystals formed in a hot, mineral-rich underground environment over a very long time. Because of the extreme conditions, the cave was difficult and dangerous for people to enter.
