Where is the Grand Bazaar?

The Grand Bazaar stands on Istanbul’s historic peninsula, between the Beyazıt and Nuruosmaniye mosques and a short walk from Sultanahmet. Construction began in the 1450s, soon after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople under Sultan Mehmed II. It is one of the oldest and largest covered markets in the world, with about 60 streets and roughly 4,000 shops. Traders sell carpets, jewellery, ceramics, lamps, leather and spices, and bargaining is expected. On busy days it can draw hundreds of thousands of visitors.
