Where is the coldest inhabited place on Earth?

Oymyakon, a remote village in the Sakha Republic of Siberia, is widely regarded as the coldest permanently inhabited place on Earth. Winter temperatures routinely fall below −50°C, and the lowest reliably reported reading was about −71.2°C. At such cold, eyelashes freeze, engines are often left running to prevent them from seizing, and the ground is permanently frozen permafrost. Despite this, several hundred people live there. The absolute coldest natural temperature ever recorded on Earth, however, was −89.2°C at the uninhabited Vostok Station in Antarctica, with satellite readings later suggesting even lower surface temperatures on the Antarctic plateau.
