The Full Story

Scottish explorer David Livingstone is generally credited with the first written description of Victoria Falls by a European in 1855. He named it after Queen Victoria, although the falls were already long known to local peoples as Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning “The Smoke That Thunders.” The falls are on the Zambezi River, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
